We are Tapping Sunlight for Clean Energy
The photovoltaic system, installed on the plant’s flat roof, is another pioneering achievement.
These PV cells and a new thermal insulation of the roof offer two advantages: We generate solar electricity and considerably improved the temperature in the rooms under the roof during both summer and winter months. Since 31 August 1999 we have been generating solar electricity covering our own requirements, since the upgrade of the PV system on 1 October 2008 even an equivalent covering those of 10 private homes.
